Alexander is a researcher at the Institute for Internet Security at Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. His research focus lies in the field of computer security, malware analysis, and the development of methods for detecting attacks. His general interest in comprehensively understanding the technical processes in computer systems is extremely beneficial to his research. He particularly concentrates on low-level topics such as operating systems, virtualization, computer architecture, and microprocessors.

As part of the research team of the HypErSIS project, Alexander is working on developing methods to detect malware and attacks occurring within a virtual machine (VM) from outside the VM. To achieve this, Alexander conducts research on behavioral sensing based on Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) and pattern recognition in event logs.
