Raphael was a researcher in the Malware, Cybercrime and Threat Intelligence Research Group at the Institute for Internet Security of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. His research interests include cyber threat intelligence, the use of machine learning techniques in the field of computer security, and reverse engineering.

He was working in the CySIRK project and developed, analyzed, and evaluated machine learning techniques that assist cybersecurity analysts working in Security Operation Centers (SOCs).
